Whether you’re aspiring to achieve an IREM credential and/or looking to enrich your knowledge, IREM is committed to helping you reach your professional development goals. Cost doesn’t have to be an obstacle – IREM has a wide array of scholarships available to help alleviate the financial burdens associated with higher education.
 
By creating new scholarships and grants and expanding others the IREM Foundation is investing in the attraction of young people into the business, developing and nurturing future leaders, and encouraging a more diverse workforce.

The IREM Foundation awards scholarships to qualified students at all career stages, from those currently enrolled in college to those working towards an IREM credential. Our chapter offers the following scholarships:

 WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA CHAPTER 40 Minority Outreach Scholarship Program
 

Criteria & Procedures

 

Purpose:  The Western North Carolina Chapter #40 Minority Outreach Scholarship program encourages the participation of under-represented minorities (i.e. African American, Asian American, Hispanic American and Native American) in the Chapter by providing scholarship and mentoring assistance to them as they work toward the CPM® designation.

 

Administration and Authority to Confer:   The Executive Council, (which consists of the elected officers of this chapter and at least three (3) other members, at least one of whom is an ARM member, unless there is no ARM member within the chapter jurisdiction) conducts the administration of this program.  The Executive Council has complete and final authority to confer or revoke scholarships, make other decisions pertaining to the use of funds in the scholarship program, and determine the specific courses that recipients shall attend under this program.  Applications are evaluated quarterly.  Recipients have up to a maximum of twenty-four (24) months from the award date scholarship to use the scholarship. 

 

Scholarship Benefits:

The Minority Outreach Scholarship provides the following benefits: 

 

      Tuition waiver for IREM courses

The Minority Outreach Scholarship provides up to $1,000 to complete IREM® courses sponsored by Western North Carolina Chapter #40 that fulfill the education requirement to achieve the CPM® designation. 

 

                        Tuition waiver for Course ETH800 (Ethics)

                        The Chapter will provide the recipient with a tuition waiver to Course ETH800

                        (Ethics).  Attending this course and passing the exam is one of the requirements for

                        the CPM® designation.

 

To be eligible for the Minority Outreach Scholarship, an individual must meet all of the criteria listed below: 

·                     Be a citizen of the United States
 
·                     Be of legal age in the state in which the individual resides
 

·                     Be an ethnic minority

  •         Meet the qualifications for CPM® candidacy by either currently being a CPM®         candidate or by submitting a completed application for CPM® candidacy

·                     Submit to the Chapter

      1) a completed application for CPM® candidacy (if not currently a CPM® candidate)    

      2) a written recommendation from a current CPM® or ARM®  member of Western North Carolina Chapter #40

                        3) a brief statement explaining why he or she feels deserving of this scholarship
 
·                     The applicant agrees, if awarded this scholarship, to attend 80% of Chapter functions and actively participate on a Chapter Committee.
 

·                     The applicant agrees, if awarded this scholarship, to reimburse the    Minority Outreach Scholarship for any funds that are subsequently reimbursed by applicant’s employer.

Note:  The letter of recommendation and CPM® candidacy application fee are not required to apply for the Minority Outreach Scholarship, but if awarded the scholarship, these items must be submitted before any courses can be taken under the scholarship.
